The Design and Advanced levels of VisualAnalysis provide code checking and member sizing capabilities across multiple material types. Supported design checks include concrete, wood, steel, composite steel, cold-formed steel, aluminum, and generic stress design for custom shapes or materials. Before relying on design results, it is important to verify that the model is producing reasonable analysis results, as these are used directly in the design checks. VisualAnalysis also integrates with other IES products to support additional specialized design features.
Double-click a member in the Design View to see which checks controlled the design. The Design Group Results report includes specification references, the controlling load case, demand and capacity values, and intermediate parameters such as unbraced length, K-factors, load duration factors, and reinforcement details. In addition, several report tables (available in all levels of VisualAnalysis) provide data that can be used to perform supplemental design calculations outside the program, such as relative member deflections, column drift, and moment magnification. Reports can be exported via the clipboard or saved to a file for use in a spreadsheet or other external tools.
