Support: Installation Issues

 Download Problems

If you have issues downloading IES products most likely the problem is with the Internet (in general), or with your machine, or your ISP.  IES has been successfully delivering products to customers for 15 years and we rarely have issues with our host or files, and when we do they are corrected within hours.  You may also request a CD.

Setup Will Not Run

IES products require admin privileges to install.  When you run setup.exe (or similar) you can right-click on the file and choose Run As, or Run As Administrator to insure that appropriate permissions are provided.  We use standard InstallShield and/or Windows Installer setups with complete single-file downloads.  If the installation fails you may not have the complete, uncorrupted setup file.  Installations may need to download setup components from the Internet before they can begin the installation of IES products.  Insure that you have the latest Windows updates.

IES Product Will Not Execute

If a newly installed IES product fails to run at all (double-clicking the icon yields nothing at all), or if you get a missing file or component message, then the installation may be incomplete.  If you try to install without admin privileges this can happen.  IES products must be installed on the same login account you wish to use to run the product, if you installed under a different account you may not have all of the files accessible.  If updating, try uninstalling the product, then re-installing it again.

Other programs running on your system such as anti-virus, system agents, mouse or keyboard utilities, and others can possibly interfere with the installation or execution of IES products, though this is extremely rare.  You might test whether the IES product runs after booting Windows into "safe mode".  Alternately you can use Start | Run... msconfig to temporarily disable startup programs to see if any are interfering with IES products.
