Building Code Support
- IBC 2006 & ACI 318-05, & MSJC 2005 support
- Unreinforced stem (gravity wall) checked via unreinforced provisions of ACI Ch. 22
- Unreinforced heel/toe now checked according to ACI Ch. 22 (e.g. very short heel/toe)
- Custom load combination sets can be entered (rather than just a single combination)
- Masonry load combinations are now fully exposed & customizable
- Stability load combination is now customizable
Project
- Multiple projects in a file, organized in a tree on a “home” page
- Menu to quickly create walls of a particular type (cantilever, restrained, gravity)
- Have a ‘Notes’ page where you can enter project-specific comments (printed in report)
Geometry Inputs
- Full gravity wall support: All components (stem/heel/toe) can be unreinforced
- Footing bars auto-extend full width
- Two curtains of reinforcement
- Shrinkage & temperature reinforcement (for complete detailing, it is not 'checked')
- Different f’c values for footing/stem
- Different fy values for footing/stem
- Different weight values for footing/stem (e.g. can model buoyancy in footing)
- Option to “turn off” heel / toe reinforcing (checked as structural plain concrete)
Loads Inputs
- Line/strip surcharge can be applied at a depth below backfill (e.g. for a buried footing)
- At-rest earth pressure (frequently used for restrained walls)
- Specify backfill depth from footing top or bottom (optional)
- Specify the unit weight of the water in the backfill (so it need not be water)
Calculations Exposed
- Code provision reference printed with each group of equations
- Explicit calculation & display of lateral pressures on the stem only
- Table listing forces used in bearing force calculation
- Clearer than old equations
- Stem shear is graphed (illustrates shear @ section junctions)
- Check summary side pane shows unity (required/provided) ratio
- Check summary view has more information (e.g. controlling load combination)
- Lateral support reaction prominently displayed right on-screen in force calculations
- Checking of multiple load combinations now much more exposed
- Bearing eccentricity check now calculates & displays actual e, allowable, & ratio
- Development & lap lengths calculations are clearer and organized onto a dedicated tab
General Interface Features
- Perpendicular wall view (much easier to see reinforcement layout)
- Colors customizable (separate for screen & printout)
- Hook extensions are displayed offset from bars they parallel (easier to see)
- Equations improvements (square roots drawn, no bold braces, clearer font)
- Stem sections are dimensioned and have improved labeling
- Double-click to edit stem sections
- Flicker removed
- Stem calculations spread out to multiple tabs: better organized, easier access
Report Features
- File name printed at the bottom of all report pages
- Improved check summary table replaces previous poorly organized check displays
- Job number input for display in report header
