IES is a small group of structural engineers, usually with a few graduate students around to help out. Here is a brief introduction to our key management people.
Founding Partner:
Dan VanLuchene
Dan produces mountains of working C++ code, and fixes lots of Terry's broken code. As our technical supervisor, he can type faster than a speeding bullet, copy & paste enough code to stop a powerful locomotive, and he used to be able to jump, we think. When he's not coding deep finite element solutions to nonlinear problems you can usually find him watching a son's baseball team or mending fences on the farm.

Founding Partner:
Terrance (Terry) Kubat
Terry makes sure the software is easy to
use after Dan makes it work. His unofficial role inside IES is "User-Interface Police".
His time is spent keeping everyone else busy. Even so, he
still tries to program 50 lines of
code a day and dream up new ways to simplify the software.
Running, biking and cross-country skiing help keep the pints of Cherry Garcia
ice cream from weighing quite so heavily. Oh yeah, and fütbol
is what you play with your feet and head (American football is
with your hands, plus 3 hours of annoying yellow flags).
Research & Development:
Bert (Jeff) Lutzenberger
Jeff L. is our chief scientist in engineering mechanics, as well as our resident graphics guru. Oh yeah, he has also done "Mems" in a clean room, whatever that means, it was worth a Ph.D., so it must be interesting. He's a likeable guy who solves problems while still making you feel like you're not an idiot. He tries to keep one foot in Linux to avoid full assimilation into the Microsoft way.
Operations Manager:
Garrett Baldensperger
Mr. Baldensperger is the "front office". He keeps it all
working smoothly and efficiently. You get your
orders
delivered on time and he makes sure the IES
bills get paid.
He only took this job because we give him a couple of mornings
off during the Winter to play with his brand-new skis on one of
the local hills. The rest of the year he is buying new ski
stuff or watching Formula One races. Give him a call, he
loves to insure you have just the right products
and license keys you need and when
you need them!
