IES is located in the small, college town of Bozeman, Montana, USA.
We are just north of Yellowstone National Park, near the
borders of Idaho and Wyoming in Southwestern Montana. It's a bit rural
around here with fewer than two million people in these three states!
Bozeman sits at 5000 ft (1524 m) in the agricultural Gallatin Valley,
surrounded closely by three mountain ranges with 11,000 ft (3353 m)
peaks. The weather is dramatic and extreme with 300 days of
sunshine a year, just 19 in (48 cm) of precipitation (half is snow) and it
has been known to snow in the valley every single month of the year,
though we generally have hot dry summers from July - September.
You can cut your grass in the morning, and shovel a snowy sidewalk in the afternoon!
We find this an ideal location to work, raise our
families, and play. Many people pass through Bozeman while traveling
I-90, others come for skiing, snowmobiling, mountain biking, fly
fishing, wilderness trips, or whitewater. Mountain lions, mountain
goats, antelope, deer, elk, and bears are all found outside our back
door, sometimes literally!
